MOBILE, Ala.—Ragamuffin Soul, the full-length Integrity Music debut from singer/songwriter and worship leader Carlos Whittaker, is slated to bow April 27. Produced by Jason Ingram and Rusty Varenkamp, Whittaker co-wrote 11 of the highly-anticipated project’s 12 selections.
Highlights of Ragamuffin Soul include the forthcoming single “God of Second Chances,” as well as "Rain It Down," “Jesus Saves,” “We Will Worship You,” and the Paul Baloche and Glenn Packiam-penned “Your Name,” among others. Ranging from powerhouse worship anthems to intimate songs of faith, the project features co-writing contributions from Ingram, Phillip LaRue, and Hillsong’s Mia Fieldes.
“My desire is to create a movement of authenticity among Christians,” Whittaker says. “A movement that pushes people into a place of being real with themselves, others, and God. It’s all about authenticity. And in that authenticity, finding God.”
Whittaker’s popular blog, www.ragamuffinsoul.com, has a worldwide following of more than 20,000 people and was ranked “Best Ministry/Theology Blog” by COLLIDE magazine readers. With a reputation as a thoughtful, creative and provocative voice in the Christian community, Whittaker has been a worship leader and songwriter for more than a decade, and also serves as a pastor, speaker, and creative coach. He was most recently director of service programming at Atlanta’s Buckhead Church, a campus of North Point Community Church. A husband and father of three, Whittaker was a key planner and teacher at last year’s Catalyst Conference in Atlanta, which drew over 12,000 people.
Whittaker can currently be seen on tour with Shane & Shane and John Mark McMillan.
Ragamuffin Soul, an Integrity Music release, will be distributed by Provident/Integrity Distribution and Sony Music Entertainment.
